My Saturday

I have been to the church every Sunday morning since last semester. I am not a Christian, but I'm just interested in Christianity. And I love the pastor in the church. He is very funny and makes people laugh all the time. I just love to be there and know some ideas for my life.

Since last week, I've started studying Bible with Amber. Actually, I kinda started Bible study last semester with my Korean friend in Woodbury. But somehow she doesn't go anymore now, so I just stopped working on that.

Today we studied "Can I find God through relationships?" I believe that all people I've met influenced me a lot. My family, my friends, my teachers...without their support, I cannot do anything. Especially, I thank my parents for letting me do everything I want to. Even though I'm in wheelchair, they allowed me to go to the U.S. to study. I don't think other parents who have disability children can do the same thing easily. I'm just glad that they are my parents.

After Bible study, I went to glass studio to practice glassblowing! I usually can practice only 2 or 3 times during class...but I signed up to use the studio every Saturday afternoon:) I asked my assistant, Spencer, to come and help me too. hehehe
It looks easy to blow glass, but it's very hard to do it. I used all energy to make air ball in glass:( Thanks to Spencer, I made a small cup in the end. It was kinda ugly, but so CUTE;) I wanna try more next week. That's too much fun!

Happy dinner time

I had dinner at UC with new Japanese students. Unexpectedly, I'm taking two classes with them this semester. I was always the only int'l student in class, so I'm really happy cuz I don't feel nervous anymore:p We talked a lot...almost 3 hours! Even though the food was not good, we enjoyed the dinner time. hahaha

By the way, in my business comm class, I need to do presentation about culture. The professor already prepared for countries and culture, so we just chose one from the list. Only two students chose same country, so I ran to get Australia when I found it. I really love Aus, actually more than the U.S.;p I thought other students would pick Aus too, but it seemed that Aus was not that popular among American students. It was interesting. Well, it was good cuz I got Aus anyway! YAY!

I have many plans this weekend...so I've been very busy:(

Japanese class

今日は先生がお子さんの用事で授業に来れへんかったから私がかわりに授業を任された。
めっちゃいきなりやったし、どうなることかと思ったけど、
日本人の後輩の助けも借りつつ何とか50分やり遂げられた★
まぁ、みんなほぼ毎日会ってる学生たちやし、そんなに緊張はしいひんかったけど。。

改めて先生はすごい！って思ったなー。
いかに生徒を飽きさせずに50分もたせられるかということにめっちゃ気を配ってる。
前もって受け取ったレッスンプランには、色々メモがしてあって、
１つ１つの過程に「ここで生徒に答えさせる」、「こんなときは日本語でこっちからアイデアを出す」、「パソコンの前にずっと座らせておくと勝手にネットで遊ぶから、前のスペースに移動させてディスカッションさせる」などなど。

本当に細かく指示が書いてあったけど・・・完璧にやるのは無理でした(笑)
でも皆がんばって日本語のブログを書いてたから良かった良かった。

ところで、今日はすごーーーーい雪がまた降って、夜の授業は全部キャンセルになった！
明日も降るんかなぁ～OMG!!!!

Spring Break

I'm thinking to go to Chicago by myself for spring break. I've heard that there is one of the three greatest art museums over there (the others are in NY and Boston). Also, it seems that the city and the buildings are really beautiful.

Traveling by myself is one of my dreams, and it would be the last chance to go somewhere alone before I leave the U.S. So, I think I should do it! :D

サザエさん

日本語のクラスで「サザエさん」を見ました。
結構アニメが好きな学生が多いのに「サザエさん」は誰も見たことがないらしく、みんな興味津々。
私も本当に久々に見たからちワクワク★

内容はタラちゃんの節分の話で、全部日本語で英語の字幕はなしでみました。

見終わった後に先生が、
「どのキャラクターが誰に対して"～です"、"～ます"の丁寧な話し方をしていましたか？」
と生徒に聞きました。

生徒は「一番小さい子ども!（タラちゃん）」と答えました。
すると、その答えに対して先生がこう言いました。

「そうです。このタラちゃんは家族の中で一番年下ですから、年上の家族には丁寧な言葉づかいで話しているんです」

私の頭の中は・・・・「？？？？？そうなん？？？？？」・・・・
タラちゃんってそういう事情からあんなしゃべり方なん？

そうじゃないと思うけど。。、ヽ｀(~д~*)、ヽ｀

My art stuff

今学期からARTのクラスを２つとってます☆

１つはグラスアート、もう１つはDrawingです

月曜日から木曜日まで毎日3時間あるんやけど、めちゃめちゃ楽しい!!

もともと英語より何かを作ったり描いたりする方が好きやったから、

アメリカでもクラスがとれるなんて嬉しい限り。

クラスメイトは皆ARTを専門に学んでいる人たちばっかり・・・（私の専門はコミュニケーション）

見た目はちょっとコワい人もいるけど(グラスのクラスは皆ボディピアス!)、皆優しいです。

下の作品は2週間くらい前に完成したのです。春の風と桜をイメージ。

私はデザインして「ここをこれくらいの深さで!」とお願いしただけで、実際にガラス板を削ってくれたのは、めっちゃ上手いアメリカ人の学生。

初めて会った時に「難しいデザインを持ってきて」と言われたから、頑張って複雑なのにしたら、削るのに3時間以上かかってました。ごめんなさぃ・・・

下の２つはdrawingのクラスの宿題。毎週４つデッサンをしなあかん。今週のはまだしてません・・・
上の方は最近買ったので、下のは台湾からの贈り物♪♪

I'm taking 2 art classes this semester. One is glass art and the other one is drawing. Each class is for 3 hours from Monday to Thursday, but it is really fun! Actually, I have loved art more than English for long time, so I'm so happy that I could take the art classes in the US.

However, all my classmates are majoring in art...(my major is communication). Although they look scary, especially all students in glass class have body piercing, they're really nice, actually.

The first picture work is just finished 2 weeks ago. I imagined spring wind and cherry blossom. I just designed and told my American assistant like "I want deep/middle/shallow here...", and he worked on it. When I first met him, he told me that I should bring difficult design. So I tried to make it difficult...in the end he was shaving more than 3 hours!:( Sorry..

The other 2 pictures are assignments for drawing class. I need to sketch 4 times a week. I haven't done this week's assignment yet...the first one is the shoes I recently got, and the next shoes are gift from Taiwan;)

AGECのペーパーが全然はかどらない・・・
6枚くらいでいいのに、内容も決まってるのに、情報もある程度集めてるのに(･Θ･;)
テーマは新聞のNew York Timesの記事ので、
どのようにアメリカと中国が温暖化対策に取り組んでいくかというもの。
ちょっと調べたけど、オバマ大統領はブッシュ元大統領と違ってCO2削減に意欲的らしい。
アメリカもついに変わるかな～。まずは夏のエアコンの温度設定から見直した方が・・・
効きすぎで寒いからなぁ･･(ﾟ＿ﾟi)

あと中国もどんどん経済発展していって、それが原因でCO2の排出量がすごい!!
2005年のデータでは1位アメリカ、2位中国、3位ロシア、そして4位が日本。
日本では皆がエコ、エコ言って環境対策への取り組みが広まってるけど、やっぱりアメリカと中国が協力的じゃなかったらどうにもならなさそうやな。。

とりあえず今日は2枚くらい書こう！Dueは木曜日やし(´∇｀)

I cannot focus on writing paper of AGEC class...It is just about 6 pages, and I've already decided what I'm gonna write about. Also, I already got info about the topic, but it takes forever!!
The topic is about how US and China address climate change/global warming. I just read the article that Mr. Obama wanna work on reducing CO2. I wonder finally US will change....I think at first they should check AC temperature...I mean it is too cold in a building in summer. Some people wear jackets, so:(
China also exhausts a lot of CO2 because of the economic development. According to the data of 2005, US is no.1 of exhaust CO2. The next is China, Russia is third, and Japan is fourth.
In Japan, everybody is working on this problem, but it must be hard to solve it without US and China's cooperation, I guess.

Anyway, I should write at least 2 pages today! It should be ok cuz the due date is Thursday;p

Birthday Party at Bar

昨日の夜はるみこちゃんの誕生日を祝って9期生のみんなでバーに飲みにいった!
その前に(給料日やったから)China moonに美里ちゃんと行って、
苦しくなるほど食べてたから、Bosに着くころにはめっちゃしんどかった・・・(＠Д＠；
あと雪もまた降ってて歩道の雪が除雪されてなかったし大変でした。。

9時過ぎにBosについて、皆でるみこちゃんを待ち・・・なかなか来なくて(笑)
10時くらいにやっと皆集合っ!!
めっっっちゃ久々に皆に会えてうれしかったなぁ～。
もうほんまにキャンパスでも見かけることないし。
次に会うのは卒業式かも!?と思ってしまう(笑)
卒業前にまた集まりたいなぁ。

ってか昨日は主役の人より、みほちゃんの仕事と理想の結婚相手の話題で盛り上がった(笑)
久々に笑いすぎて今日はのどが痛いわ～。
彼女の今後に注目!!!!!!!!!

ところで、今学校のチャンネルで"P.S. I love you"を放送してます。
好きな映画の１つ。アイルランド行ってみたいなー。

I went to bar to celebrate Rumiko's bday last night with all friends who had transition program together. Before that, I went to China moon with Misato and ate too much Chinese food, so I was already tired when I got Bos. Also, it was snowing badly again, and there was snow on the sidewalk....OMG!:( It made me tired more.

We finally start drinking around 10pm, and I was so happy that I could see them cuz I don't really have a chance to see them around campus. Maybe everyone is busy....I wonder that we won't see each other until commencement...lol I wanna see and hang out with all before that for sure!

By the way, last night party was for Rumiko, but we kept talking (teasing?) about Miho's job and dream husband...lol My throat hurts because of too much laughing. I'm looking forward to hearing her future news!

Now, "P.S. I love you" is on TV, channel 10 which is campus channel. This is one of my favorite movies. I wanna go to Ireland~~~;)

Gotta go to watch movie!

今日は夜に映画を観に行った。アメリカはめっちゃ安くで映画が観れます★
私の大学の近くの映画館は大人3ドル(約300円)!!!　ここはすごい小さい映画館で、上映してるのは１つだけ。だからこんなに安いのか・・・と思っていましたが、大きい映画館にいっても6~8ドル(6~800円)くらいで観れるねん!さすが映画の国やわー。

日本やったら大人は1800円やっけ?安い日でも1000円やもんなぁ。アメリカに来てめっちゃ映画を観ます。映画館でも観るし、テレビでもめっちゃ映画を放送してるから見てしまう。これは日本ではできひんなぁ～。

あ、今夜みた映画は"Mall Cop"というコメディ。めっちゃ笑えます!!!めっちゃかわいいです!!!

でもときどき邦画がみたくなる・・・少年メリケンサックおもしろそう♪

I went to watch a movie today. Movie ticket is really cheap in the US. The movie theater in RF is only $3!:D This one is small, and you can watch only one movie...I was thinking that's why the ticket was cheap at first. But! even if you go to a bigger movie theater, it costs only $6~8!! In Japan...it should be 1,800yen? Even if it is on Ladies day, it should cost 1,000yen...I have watched many movies since I came to the US. I watch movie at movie theater and on TV as well;) I don't think I can do this in Japan. I will miss doing it.

By the way, the movie I watched tonight was "Mall Cop." It was so funny and cute!!

But sometime I wanna watch Japanese movie....I need watch "Shonen Merikensack":)

Chuck Close

DrawingのクラスでChuck CloseのDVDを見た。
最初見た時は全然ピンとこなかったけど、「この人の絵どっかで見た!!」と思って部屋に帰ってきてから昔の写真をみてみたら、やっぱり★隣の州のミネソタにある現代美術館、Walker Art Centerで見たみたいです。
彼は車椅子に乗ってて手を動かすのも大変そうやねんけど、自分の体の何倍もある大きなキャンパスを使って、ちょっとずつちょっとずつ色をつけていきます。
彼の作品はどれも素晴らしいものばかりでしたw(*ﾟoﾟ*)w　You tubeではわかりにくいけど・・・見てください!

ってか日本の財務相？が辞任したの!!?酔っ払って??
私のdrawingの教授は昔日本で美術を勉強してて、ちょっと日本語が話せるんやけど、その教授からこの辞任のニュースを聞きました(笑)アメリカのニュースでも放送されたんやなぁ。こっちでニュース見いひんから全然知らんかった・・・日本は大丈夫なんかな!?

キャンパスにまた雪が積もりました～これは全然嬉しくない。。
温かい日が続いてたから、もうそのまま春が来るかと思ったのに。
ちなみに今はマイナス10℃!　最高気温がマイナス5度やからね～(笑)
また寒い日が続きそう・・・

In drawing class, I watched a DVD about Chuck Close who is an American artist. I didn't feel anything at first, but after I saw a couple his works, I thought that I might have seen one in an art museum before. I checked old pics I took in my laptop. I found the pic, and it was in Walker Art Center, modern art museum in Minnesota.
Chuck Close is in a wheelchair, and also has a difficulty using his hands. However, he is drawing little by little on a canvas which is much bigger than his body. He is so amazing! It is kinda hard to see his works on you tube, but please check it out;)

By the way, did Japanese financial minister resign because he was drunk or something? My drawing professor learned art in Japan before, and knows some Japanese. He told me the news after the class. I totally didn't know...It seems that TV news programs in the US also broadcasted this news. Hmmm ...

Snow is back on campus!....I don't like it...:( I thought that finally spring came to RF because last week was pretty warm so. Now, it is -10 degree, and today's highest temperature was -5 degree. hahaha I think cold days will continue...sigh.

びっくりするくらいほっといたブログを久々に書こうと思います
最後に書いたのは2007年の春ということは、アメリカに来て間もない頃・・・
今はもうアメリカでの大学生活最後の学期です(笑)
このブログを書いてない時期に起こったことを簡単に書きますと。。

2007年　夏　　無事にTOEFLの目標点数GET!
　　　　　 秋　　Univ. of Wisconsin River Falls(UWRF)に編入。留学生活スタート。
　　　　　 冬　　マイナス20℃の世界に耐える・・・冬休みに一時帰国！といってもほぼ台湾で過ごす。
2008年　春　　冬休みのだらだらが抜けない。寒い！4月の末まで雪が降った！
　　　　　 夏 3か月という長ーい夏休みをアメリカで過ごす。インターンシップしたりクラスとったり旅行したり。
　　　　　 秋　　留学2年目に突入! 日本語のアシスタントのバイトも始めた。就活のためにボストンへ。
　　　　　 冬　　クリスマスを友達のおばあちゃん宅で過ごす→日本へ一時帰国→アリゾナへ。

とまぁ、こんな感じです★
あ、旅行にはちょこちょこ行ってます。(ワシントンDC、サンフランシスコ、ニューヨーク、ボストン、アリゾナ)

簡単に書いたらこんなんやけど、ほんまにいろいろありましたー。
そして今とっっっても忙しい!!!自分のとってるクラスやら、日本語のクラスやら、就活やら・・・
でも日々楽しいこととか、発見することがあって、これをどっかに書きとめとかな日本に帰ったら全部忘れそうなので・・・
頑張って1日1行でも思いついたことを書こうと思うッッッ★

今のところ意気込みだけは十分(笑)
今日は・・・朝にmodern languageのオフィスに行って、来週月曜にある日本語のoral testに使う機械について話をし、9時半からAgriculture Econのクラス。クイズの勉強を全然してなかったからどうなるかと思ったけど・・・とりあえず大丈夫な感じやった･･･(ﾟ＿ﾟi)

そのあと日本語のクラスが２つ続けてあった。みんな頑張って勉強してますっ！中級クラスは木曜日がテスト。頑張ってね～!!
1時間休んで、2時からglass artのクラス。ほんまは3時間のクラスやねんけど、hot studio(あのガラスを溶かす窯）が故障してるようで、ビデオを見て終わった。先生が日本でglass artが学べる専門学校のパンフをくれた。

授業が思ってたより早く終わったから、美里ちゃんと早めに晩御飯を食べにcafeteriaへ。
最近まじで同じもんばっか食べてる・・・(American)Chinese food、サラダ、ピザ、アイスクリーム!そしてバナナを朝食用に取って帰る。もっと種類増やしてくださいー美味しいのを作ってくださいー。

部屋帰ってきて、ちょっとだらっとして宿題と明日のbusiness commのクイズ勉強。
そして外を見たらまた雪降ってるしっっっ!!!!!
明日も1日頑張りましょう!!!

My English is not perfect, but I just wanna translate a couple parts I wrote from Japanese to English:)
Almost 2 years have passed since I posted last time. That was 2007 Spring, and I just came to the US at that time. However, now it's 2009, and this is my last semester at UWRF. I am crazy busy with my classes, Japanese classes, preparing for job hunting etc:( It is the busiest semester EVER!! Actually I don't really have time to relax, but I just think I should write about things I experienced, thought, found etc in my life in the US on this blog, otherwise I will forget once I go back to Japan. So, I will try to post everyday....we'll see:p Also, I'll try to write English translation as much as I can.

This morning I went to Modern Language Department before my class to make sure I can borrow the tape recorder for Oral test in Japanese class. I'm working as a facilitator and tutor in two Japanese classes this semester. So this is one of my work...:)
My morning class starts 9:30am every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. It is AGEC(Agriculture Economics) 250 class. I had a quiz which was not that difficult...I felt lucky cuz I didn't study last night:p

In Japanese classes, the students were studying really hard. The students in intermediate Japanese class is having test this Thursday. Good luck;)

After I had 1 hour break, I went to glass art class which is my favorite! However, the hot studio needed to be fixed, so we couldn't do glassblowing today. That was too bad. We just watched two videos. My professor, Jim, gave me a pamphlet of glassblowing school in Japan...:D

The class finished early, and I went to the cafeteria to eat dinner with Misato. I always eat same food. I have no choice. Just (American)Chinese food, salad, pizza, ice cream. And I bring a banana back to my room every time for my breakfast:p I want yummy food~.

After I came back to my room, I did my stuff, homework, and studied for quiz of business communication. I just noticed it is snowing again! OMG!!!!!
